RESOURCE CENTRE

Our Resource Officer, David Dick, is available for advice and assistance 3 days a week.

Thursday is a drop-in day at our Resource Centre, from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm. Please feel free to call in or telephone to discuss your needs. Visitors are looked after on a first come, first served basis, so there may be a short wait until the Resource Officer, David, is free.

The Resource Centre is also open on Tuesdays and Fridays by appointment only.

The Resource Centre enables our members to find out what types of Low Vision Aids are available to assist them to maintain an independent life.  The Resource Officer discusses, with them, difficulties that arise in their everyday living.  From these discussions, he advises on the appropriate approach to these difficulties.  This may mean a change to the technique of doing something or possibly the need for some form of appliance to help to minimise the difficulties.

If an appliance is recommended, David will advise what is the most appropriate and will also give training in the use of the equipment.  He also encourages members to come back and practice on the demonstration model to ensure that it is suitable for their needs and that they are confident in its use.

We maintain a limited stock of popular items for sale and have a wide range of aids and equipment available to view or try. Anything not in stock can be obtained or, alternatively, we are happy to put you in contact with the supplier so that you can deal with them direct.

Whilst the majority of the equipment in the Resource Centre is for demonstration purposes, the larger items are also available for the use of the members to enable them to read the occasional letter or bill by themselves.   If any member wishes to make use of this facility please contact us for an appointment.
